We are looking for an Associate Scientist Organic Chemistry. – Mechelen,BE

You will be part of our team of Medicinal Chemists responsible for the delivery of clinical candidate compounds for Galapagos’ drug discovery portfolio. As member of a large Medicinal Chemistry team, you will be exposed to a diverse set of projects within several therapeutic areas.

You will be responsible for planning, designing and executing multi-step synthesis pathways toward key target molecules. We are looking for people who have a deep interest in organic synthesis and can translate this knowledge into efficient laboratory planning. Additionally, communication of results, methods and conclusions to departmental colleagues is essential.

Profile

This Is Who You Are

• Master in organic/medicinal chemistry, preferably with a few years of relevant experience in industry
• Excellent knowledge of organic chemistry with good laboratory skills. Interest in medicinal chemistry is a plus.
• Familiarity with chromatographic techniques like flash and preparative chromatography.
• Experience with analytical techniques such as H-NMR and LCMS.
• Ability of fluently speaking and writing in English.
• Good interpersonal skills
