Finance Director Belgium / The Netherlands

The ideal candidate will lead the finance function across Belgium and Netherlands within the Northern and Western Europe region and will work closely with the regional CFO and the Managing Directors of Belgium and the Netherlands. (Job location Amsterdam or Brussels)

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage, motivate and develop the finance team in Belgium and Netherlands, as well as Serbia
  • Drive financial results as part of the local leadership team
  • Provide competent & timely decision support (e.g. customer tenders, CapEx economic analysis, make/buy decisions, business development support)
  • Timely financial reporting to Group/Regional HQs, including monthly, budget and forecasts reporting
  • Ensure reliable, relevant, focused and timely management information and drive financial accountability across departments and units
  • Owner of monthly outlook and budgeting process for Belgium and Netherlands
  • Establish framework to identify performance gaps and proactively support the units/departments in gap closure measures
  • Financial transaction processing (supplier invoices/payments, customer invoices/receipts, general journals and balance sheet reconciliations), outsourcing activities where appropriate (cost, efficiency, quality)
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of underlying drivers of the business
  • Drive maximization of free cash flow (including trade working capital management) and ensure accurate cash forecasting
  • Compliance to IFRS, group financial policies and local tax & financial (statutory) regulations.
  • Ensure the companies are compliant with corporate tax, customs, VAT and Airport fee rules
  • Drive improvements in finance processes and procedures within the ICS framework
  • Smooth and unqualified interim and year-end external audits, timely submission of statutory accounts
  • Take the senior financial lead on ad hoc projects, restructuring and corporate development
  • Perform director duties (fiduciary duties) on legal entities and ensure company secretary duties are performed.

Qualifications

Education:

· Master degree in Accounting/Finance/Controlling, preferably a qualified accountant or MBA

Work Experience:

· 10 years of Financial and Management accounting experience, preferably in a multi-national environment with increasing responsibilities

· Solid experience in cross functional process (e.g. order to cash, purchase to pay) design and improvements

· Thorough understanding of accounting standards (IFRS, BE / NL GAP) and compliance requirements ideally acquired from an experience in external audit.

· Strong analytical mind-set and skills

· Excellent time and project management skills

· Team player demonstrating strong leadership as appropriate

· Demonstrable people management experience

Language / Communication Skills:

· Excellent communication skills (Flemish/Dutch and English), comfortable at all levels (shop floor to board)

· Capability to work in a matrix organisation

· Ability to influence and motivate others

Job Dimensions

Geographic Responsibility: Belgium and Netherlands (including service center in Belgrade, Serbia)

Type of Employment: Full time

Travel %: 20% (principally across BE/NL/SR)

Internal Relationships: local finance team, leadership teams in countries, regional finance teams, group finance (incl tax and treasury).

External Relationships: customers, suppliers, external auditors and advisors
