Within our Biotech Product Engineering Equipment team, we have an exciting opportunity for a Product Engineer Automation. In this role, you will be responsible for the life cycle management of automated equipment and its software related to mixers, which are being manufactured by our suppliers globally. You are a sparring partner for and work closely with R&D, Product Management, Quality, Operations and Service teams in designing and maintaining our product performance. You will drive life cycle management of products, being involved in new product development and support the product throughout its entire life cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Actively participates in New Product Development projects, where you provide early design guidance from a manufacturability perspective;
• Plans and executes on projects to improve the product manufacturing process throughout its lifecycle, whilst mitigating the risk of introducing performance changes;
• Supports new equipment supplier validation from first built unit to high volume manufacturing and perform and communicate risk assessments;
• Supports equipment suppliers to implement general changes, design changes related to quality improvement opportunities and cost improvement projects;
• Support business unit level complaint resolution;
• Prepares detailed validation protocols for IQ, OQ, PQ and write the validation reports in close cooperation with quality engineering;
• Applies problem solving tools (6 Sigma tools, failure mode analysis, trending) to investigate design issues and product non-conformances;
• Cooperate with engineering technicians and design engineers for support in testing and product / manufacturing drawing;
• Create technical documentation;
• Part of multi-functional teams to support projects at global level and lead on local level;
• Purchase relevant tooling required for manufacturing activities where required;
• Ensure adherence to Pall software governance policies and associated standards;
• Work with vendors to establish best practical automation solutions and ensure conformity of vendor supply;
• Working within Pall Biotech community to drive life cycle management of existing mixing technologies and automation on products and platforms for the Biotechnology market;
• Some travel within the EU, as well as international travel will be required as part of project and team responsibilities.

Key Qualifications & Experience: 

• You have a Bachelor´s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline and a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in Product Engineering;
• You bring experience of industrial automated equipment and/or control systems philosophy ideally in regulated environments;
• You are fluent in the English language, Dutch is preferred;
• You are Familiar with process validation procedures and techniques (IQ, OQ and PQ) documents for new products, processes and equipment;
• You have experience with PLC programming (i.e. Siemens and Rockwell);
• Knowledge of GAMP – Good Automation Manufacturing Practice is an advantage;
• Any knowledge of manufacturing processes regarding electrical cabinet build would be helpful but is not essential. Similarly any formal training and qualification in Six Sigma Techniques would be an advantage;
• You are action oriented, have an analytical mindset and are always looking to optimize work processes;
• You are an effective communicator and able to work as a team member;
• You take initiative and can plan and align tasks and projects.
