The Corporate Policy and Planning Office is part of the Cannabis, Consumer Protection, and Corporate Policy Branch. The Office is responsible for leading and developing consumer protection policy and corporate policy initiatives, managing the Ministry’s legislation program, leading the ministry’s performance planning and management process, providing support to the ministry’s branches on policy and planning initiatives, and serving as the ministry liaison with the independent agencies that administer consumer protection legislation.

The consumer protection and corporate initiatives team is responsible for setting consumer protection policy for the province and leading corporate policy initiatives. The team works closely with Consumer Protection BC, the Vehicle Sales Authority, industry stakeholders, and consumer advocates to develop amendments to policy and legislation that safeguard consumers by establishing rights and responsibilities of consumers and businesses, and balance interests to ensure a fair marketplace.

As a policy analyst on our collaborative and nimble team, you will independently manage assigned policy development projects focused on the review and revision of existing ministry programs or legislation.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Degree in business administration, public administration, law or equivalent.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of one year of experience researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis.
  • A minimum of one year of experience writing a variety of documents such as briefing notes, reports, business cases and correspondence.
  • Experience managing projects and/or project components.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience developing legislation and regulations.
