Responsibilities
Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Maintenance and Operations and/or designate, this position is responsible to maintain the integrity of the building infrastructure, systems and grounds. Such work will cover repairs, preventative maintenance, stores, dealing with outside agencies. The Building Maintenance person will exhibit leadership and sound professional judgement and initiative while working within the framework of the objectives of the service and the organization as a whole. Travel to other sites may be required. The incumbent will complete all employer requested upgrades and/or educational training as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma – Grade 12 or the equivalent.
- Provincial Certification (Certificate of Qualification and/or Red Seal in good standing) in any one of the recognized maintenance trades – plumbing, refrigeration, pipe fitters, carpentry, electrical and industrial mechanics.
- Able to crack fill, paint, build things (i.e. build shelfing, small carpentry projects, use basic carpentry hand tools and power tools) , fix a small electrical issue, unplug a sink, take a drain apart, competent on running small equipment.
- Journeyman trades people will be considered.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a recognized maintenance trade.
- Travel to other sites may be required. Access to a reliable vehicle is required.
- Ability to operate various motor vehicles, machinery, tools and equipment related to the work environment.
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

Hours of Work
Permanent Full-Time position, 75 hours bi-weekly.
Salary Information
$24.30 – $25.75 hourly (SE43)
