Job Summary
We are looking to hire a qualified Facility Manager who is a mature Christian that models Christ in their life and is passionate about providing high-quality, Christian-based Early Childhood Education.
Under the direction of the Director, the Facility Manager manages the day-to-day operations of childcare facility to establish a positive learning environment for children. The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in managing all aspects of a daycare facility or preschool, have a love for children, and strong leadership and supervisory skills to create a supportive and encouraging environment for teachers, parents, and children.
Qualifications
- Early Childhood Education Certification, Diploma, or higher
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Negative Criminal Records check

- Doctor’s note attesting to suitability in working with children
- At least 2 years of working in a licensed childcare facility with experience in administration, supervision, and program oversight

Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of:
- Supervisory and management principles
- Applicable Federal, Provincial, and Municipal laws, childcare regulations, codes, and/or statutes. Includes CCLR, JHSC, WCB, and employment standards
- Early childhood development principles and practices
- Records maintenance principles and practices
Demonstrated skill in:
- Supervising subordinate staff
- Interpreting and applying applicable laws, rules, and regulations
- Analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, projecting consequences of proposed actions, and making recommendations in support of goals
- Managing a childcare center and both the Infant/Toddlers group and 30 Months to School Age group
- Leading professional development efforts and supporting educators within a teaching and learning environment that promotes lifelong learning and the Reggio Emilia Approach
- Mediating conflict and working with diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds of families and staff
- Communicating effectively through oral and written mediums
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensures and facilitates the smooth functioning of all aspects of the childcare facility in order to best serve children and families
- Ensure that center facilities are safe for children and comply with Federal, Provincial, and Municipal laws, childcare regulations, and licensing requirements at all times
- Provides supervision, leadership, and support to all center staff
- Train new staff members, ensuring they meet all policies and legal requirements
- Manage and implement childcare curriculum that is reflective of BGA’s Christian values and compliant with Provincial requirements
- Oversee and manage all elements of center enrollment, ensuring full capacity and smooth integration of new client-children into the center
- Markets the center to prospective client-parents through word of mouth and sharing the marketing materials made available
- Provide facility tours
- Maintain accurate recordkeeping in terms of daycare records, client files, enrollment, payroll, and staffing
- Evaluate and notify the Director of requirements for daycare materials, equipment, and supplies every month
- Complete ongoing training and courses to remain up to date on daycare standards and procedures
- Send out weekly newsletters to keep parents updated on announcements and facility news
- Develop and maintain positive relationships and regular communication with parent-clients through the Parent Communications App and in-person interactions; facilitates or directly provides mediation and resolution to parent-program conflicts which arise
- Ensure policies and procedures are being followed by parent-clients, guiding them and addressing concerns as they arise
- Host special events (i.e., Open Houses, birthday parties, Winter concerts, etc.) at the center when necessary
- Performs other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Director of Operations
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work is generally performed in both classroom and outdoor settings, with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule due to the unpredictability of young children. Frequent walking, standing, lifting, stooping, and carrying of equipment and materials may be required. May be required to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Applicants must be able to handle the stress, tension, and exasperation that contact with many children and parents brings every day.
