The Safety Watch position is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals that are new to the safety industry, are interested in casual, project-based work throughout the year, and are looking for great pay. Starting employees earn $265.00 / 12-hour day on average factoring in daily/weekly overtime

The primary responsibility of the Safety Watch role is focus on safety in the vicinity under his/her surveillance including occasional visitors as well as workers assigned to the worksite.

Safety Watch personnel duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Setting up, inspecting and maintaining safety equipment
  • Monitoring and backing up all personnel under breathing air by having function tested SCBA readily available for use
  • Ensuring all incidents are reported and investigated immediately
  • Participating in all pre-job meetings with an emphasis on specific worksite hazards
  • Knowing the whereabouts of all safety equipment: Fire Extinguishers/Pull Stations, Eye Wash Stations, Shower Units, First Aid Room(s), Muster Locations, Breathing Apparatuses, etc.

Calgary

Required certificates include:

  • Standard First Aid Level C
  • ESC H2S Alive
  • CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
  • CSTS 2020
  • In house training to be provided for Fall Protection, Confined Space & Fire Watch

Red Deer

Required certificates include:

  • Standard First Aid Level C
  • ESC H2S Alive
  • CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
  • CSTS 2020
  • In house training to be provided for Fall Protection, Confined Space & Fire Watch

Fort Saskatchewan

Required certificates include:

  • Standard First Aid Level C
  • ESC H2S Alive
  • CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
  • CSTS 2020
  • In house training to be provided for Fall Protection, Confined Space & Fire Watch

Fort McMurray ? Training to be completed in Calgary, Red Deer or Fort Saskatchewan. Flights will be provided out of Edmonton or Calgary only

Required certificates include:

  • Standard First Aid Level C
  • ESC H2S Alive
  • CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
  • CSTS 2020
  • OSSA/ESC Fall Protection
  • OSSA/ESC Confined Space
  • OSSA/ESC Fire Watch
  • RPE Training (4 Hour Course)

FOR ALL AREAS

  • A valid, unrestricted Driver’s Licence (Please note, a valid licence does not include a Learner’s Permit or Graduated Licence (GDL)) is considered an asset
  • Successful completion of Pre-Employment testing which includes a Drug & Alcohol Test, Audiogram and Respiratory Mask Fittings (HSE provided)
  • Work Visa (if applicable)
  • Excellent comprehension and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Good vision/hearing
  • Clean shaven each day for shift

Physically capable of performing the following tasks:

  • Working at heights and / or climbing ladders
  • Working in small / confined spaces
  • Lifting up to 50lbs
  • Pushing / pulling (tools / objects)
  • Sitting / driving
  • Bending / kneeling / crouching
  • Standing / walking for long periods of time
  • Working in adverse weather environments (heat / cold) and conditions (rain / wind)
  • Potential shift lengths 10 ? 12 hours, should be available to work longer if client requirements demand longer shifts or schedule changes
  • Employee must ensure that they are staying hydrated, alert and fit for duty at all times

The Safety Watch New Hire Orientation Training Program consists of up to 5 days of internal training. Classroom time is unpaid as it is prior to your hire date, however, HSE will provide you with Industry Standard tickets upon successful completion of the Safety Watch training program and once you have completed your first assigned project or 21 days in the field, whichever comes first. If you choose to leave employment with HSE or have been terminated for any reason before you fulfill your duties on the first field project, you forfeit the training tickets.
