Grocery Clerk, Forest Hill – Summerhill Market

Summerhill Market is a boutique grocery store chain in Toronto that specializes in scratch-made prepared foods and on-trend ingredients. Our stores go above and beyond a typical grocery store by offering an extensive rotating selection of ready to eat gourmet meals, freshly baked goodies, and curated hard to find groceries.

Summerhill Market is searching for a Grocery Clerk, who is a foodie at heart, to provide service excellence to our customers, while working as part of a team in the grocery department.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Grocery clerks are responsible to make sure the grocery section of the store is well-stocked and in order for our customers. The Grocery Clerk must be committed to customer service with a friendly personality necessary to handle customers’ requests. Grocery covers, all non-perishable items, dairy, and frozen goods.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in receiving, storing, and stocking of products while ensuring proper product rotation and quality
• Assist with creating and building product displays
• Ensure proper facing of products
• Handle product damages and credits according to company policy
• Become familiar with all store products and their locations in order to assist customers in locating items
• Bagging groceries for customers at the front cash and performing carry-outs when needed
• Maintain store cleanliness

Skillset Requirements:

• A passion for customer service
• Previous experience in grocery or retail, an asset
• Friendly and pleasant personality with exceptional communication and customer service skills
• Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions
• Ability to work in a cold environment as required (fridge, freezer, etc.)
• Ability to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays
