E-commerce Manager – own, shape and grow our new sales channel

You will be joining the Commercial Excellence department as part of our Marketing division. We strive to have a professional, international and diverse work environment. While you will be sitting together with Commercial Excellence, your cooperation and network will span far beyond this, as you will be working closely with our subsidiaries around the world.

Your closest collaboration partners will be located within Digital/IT, who will be responsible for developing enhancements and features based on customer input that you will prioritise in collaboration with our local sales and marketing teams across the world. Your day-to-day contacts will include most of our organisation: SVP’s, sales directors, marketing directors, customer service and developers.

This is the role

As our new e-commerce manager, you will be responsible for our new sales channel, Rockcommerce, including deployment, migration and ongoing development of the platform.

Working closely with senior internal stakeholders, you will act as the three-way link between the business, Commercial Excellence and our Digital DevOps team to keep all relevant parties involved, updated and engaged. Furthermore, you will be the ambassador internally for Rockcommerce, motivating your colleagues to embrace the changes that it brings.

Specific tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Leading the strategic effort in the development of Rockcommerce
  • Working with the business and Digital DevOps to ensure that our e-commerce platform is fit for purpose, facilitating current market needs while pushing new ways of servicing our customers in a more customer friendly and effective way
  • Engaging with market sales directors, marketing directors, sales, customer service and super users to ensure useful usage of the platform based on local market environments
  • In the longer run, assisting with the shaping of a future e-commerce team to take Rockcommerce to the next level

With your commercial mindset and inclusive approach, you strive to always consider how a certain change or initiative can add value to the company. You will have the personal and professional strength to stand your ground when needed to, while acknowledging that not all initiatives will be well received. In addition, you have the motivation for understanding and delving into new areas, and you would rather ask twice than fail once.

We are very open towards different backgrounds – you might have a strong commercial background combined with an interest in e-commerce, but you may also have had a stronger focus on IT development and sales platforms and now see yourself wanting to learn more about the commercial side of the business.

We do, however, imagine that you have:

  • Some years of experience from a relevant position – e.g. within sales, IT development, e-commerce or digital marketing
  • Experience with marketing – or the motivation to work in this field
  • The ability to structure multiple sources of data and to analyse and summarise possible actions
  • Proven experience in managing small/medium-sized teams in a matrix organisation (hence no direct reports)
  • Strong communication skills, allowing you to effortlessly interact with all levels of our organisation, bridging technical challenges with business improvements on Rockcommerce
