Software Engineer – Technical Lead (Backend / DevOps)

Our platform manages rich metadata and graph models in a scalable and highly available platform. On our top SaaS region, over 20 billion events and over 32 TB of data are ingested daily.You will engage with truly exciting problems like scalability and security and get a chance to fully tap into your talents. You will help us develop horizontally scalable microservices deployed and running in the AWS (Amazon Web Services) cloud environment.

More specifically, on a day-to-day basis this role involves

• bringing to life new software functionality based on product requirements
• performing peer code reviews and automating all development chores
• running your code in production and helping to resolve production issues
• participating in agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, planning, release and retrospective meetings)
• broadening your technical and soft skills with the help of our training programs

You are the kind of engineer that loves solving the hardest resiliency and scalability problems, enjoys large data scaling challenges and you are comfortable rolling your sleeves up. You are friendly, creative and independent, as well as enthusiastic to learn new technologies and passionate about programming and software development. You like to code, and you also enjoy setting up the infrastructure where the code runs. You are passionate about automation of continuous integration and deployment processes.

You should have

• At least 10 years of relevant industry experience
• a good handle of Java programming language
• a solid understanding of design patterns, data structures and algorithms
• familiarity with automated configuration and orchestration tools like Chef, Puppet, Ansible
• scripting and automation experience (e.g., Bash, Python)
• working experience with Linux or Unix-based systems
• an experience with incremental development, testing, and deployment, as well as building and improving CI/CD pipelines
• REST service development
• virtualization and containerization platforms – Docker, OpenStack
• container orchestration tools – Kubernetes
• cloud technologies (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

Also a plus if you have experience with the following technologies

• Elasticsearch
• Lucene
• Kafka
