The Consumer Goods Forum is hiring a Senior Manager for its Human Rights Coalition- Working to End Forced Labour (HRC).
The purpose of the Human Rights Coalition is to drive the social sustainability conversation forward and help implement actions that lead to positive impacts. CEO-led, we work to achieve decent working conditions across the consumer goods industry and worldwide. our work is focused on driving individual and collective action in our businesses and supply chains to:
- Implement Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) systems focused on forced labour in our own operations and our palm oil supply chain;
- Support Responsible Recruitment markets; and
- Support a focused movement with all relevant stakeholders to jointly expedite the elimination of forced labour.
The Senior Manager’s role will be to work on the delivery of the HRC’s projects through:
- implementation and further development of the strategic goals of the Coalition with the Steering Committee
- overseeing the delivery of the HRC’s programme with our project partners (Fair Labor Association and the UN International Organization for Migration)
- supporting communication to prospects, members and stakeholders
The Senior Manager, Sustainability will work primarily in English, professional knowledge of French is desirable.
This is a full-time position. The candidate is expected to travel a maximum of 20%.
The Senior Manager, Sustainability reports to the Director, Social Sustainability and will work with an Officer, Sustainability.
The position is based at CGF headquarters in the Paris area (Levallois-Perret), France.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Governance – Programme Management
- Ongoing management of the projects – ensuring the successful governance and delivery of the workstreams with project partners.
- Support the implementation and further development of the HRC strategic objectives
- Manage relevant working groups and contribute to the liaison with the CGF Board
- Identify, implement and maintain strategic partnerships notably with our implementation partners (FLA & IOM)
- Identify and monitor indicators of the impact of the HRC
- Report on delivery of the HRC
- Ensure the delivery and / or contribution to relevant Working Groups
- Proactively identify upcoming challenges and issues in business and human rights, and how this may impact upon members’ priorities, and the ongoing projects.
Member and Stakeholder Engagement
- Prepare and manage working groups and stakeholder engagement activities (e.g. organisation of meetings, conference calls and webinars)
- Moderate in-person meetings and conference calls
- Prepare background briefings on responsible sourcing, business and human rights, modern slavery and upcoming relevant regulations in global supply chains
Communications & External Representation
- Implement and further develop the communications strategy of the HRC
- Develop communications materials, including webinars to ensure the HRC value proposition is clearly communicated to member companies and non-member organisations and stakeholders
- Represent the HRC at industry and stakeholder events (meetings and conferences)
Administration & Budget
- Manage the HRC budget related to the HRC (income and expenses) and follow-up on budget related issues
- Ensure the CRM database (Salesforce) is up to date.
Team work & cross-initiative collaboration
- Bridge the links between our Human Rights Coalition and Forest Positive Coalitions notably on building alignment on the palm oil workstreams.
- Collaborate and support other projects of the CGF (when relevant)
- Actively contribute to the preparation and delivery of relevant CGF events, e.g. the Sustainable Retail Summit
Requirements:
- Graduate degree in Political Science: Human Rights / Social Responsibility / Sustainability / Environment related fields (equivalent to Master’s degree)
- Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in the area of responsible sourcing, ethical trade, and business and human rights.
- General understanding of business on an international level and of social sustainability policy in supply chains particularly within FMCG
- Familiar with ethical sourcing issues and approaches
- Understanding of the social compliance landscape
- Experience of working within a client services environment
- Excellent project and programme management skills

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that tight deadlines are met
