The WPFH Technology team provides IT services to the Fidelity business, which includes Pensions, Workplace Savings, FundsNetwork™, Personal Investing, Retail, Digital, Customer Services and International business. This includes the development and support of business applications that underpin our revenue, operational, compliance, finance, legal, marketing and customer service functions. The broader organisation incorporates Infrastructure services that the firm relies on to operate on a day to day basis including data centre, networks, proximity services, security, voice, incident management and remediation.

Purpose of the Role

WPFH is looking to advance on an ambitious multi-year data strategy programme across its global business. The technology teams are working in partnership with our business, to align to its vision for the availability of good quality data and supporting processes to increase operational efficiency and to provide strategic insights and analytics through a resilient and scalabile target state architecture. Supporting this vision and ambition, the WPFH Data Strategy team are recruiting a Product Owner to support this key initiative.

This is an exciting high-profile programme with the domain product owner role being key to help define, plan and implement data domains within our Data Strategy.

Domain Product Owner

  • Define and communicate the overall product vision, objectives and goals of the domain building from a minimum viabale product through transition states to the target state as defined by the overall data strategy
  • Create and control of the backlog of work, priortisising, refining and socialising, collaboratively working with the team and business to sequence the work to deliver the optimum business value
  • Collaborating with the programme team, business users data owners and data stewards to ensure correct prioritisation of work.
  • Oversight of the domain and working closely with other domain owners and workstreams, ensuring alignment to delivery milestones and objectives
  • Key stakeholder management including engagement with technology, operations, and WPFH business teams.
  • Secure necessary resources, both technology and business – assign roles and responsibilities.
  • Lead getting into the detail when necessary to understand complex scenarios
  • Overseeing all stages of the domain product development from design through supporting going live
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance based on knowledge from previous roles / projects.
  • Build strong relationships through attending dedicated team ceremonies.
  • Interface with other impacted parties, internal and external vendors or consultants as required.
  • Manage risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies and escalate if required.
  • Produce progress reports, KPIs and other management information as appropriate.
  • Member of relevant management and steering committees or bodies

Experience and Qualifications

  • 10 +years of IT experience in BFSI sector preferably in Asset Management
  • Experience managing complex backlogs with parallel streams of work from initiation through to implementation in an agile development cycle
  • Working with offshore development teams eg India, Ireland, China and US
  • Experience of working with third party vendors with a focus on technical integrations
  • Experience of tools like Atlassian suite, Confluence, JIRA etc
  • Preferably product owner qualified or have experience and a good understanding of the behaviours and techniques used.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to teach and learn from others
  • Sense of urgency and awareness of when to escalate issues.
  • Self-motivated, a proactive approach with an analytical, enquiring mind and willingness to learn.
  • Strong sense of ownership with ability to work on challenging issues and overcome constraints and obstacles, requesting support when and where required.
  • Dedication to accuracy, timeliness and high productivity while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Experience of presenting at project meetings.
  • Commitment and professionalism.

Essential Skills Required:

  • Experience of implementing solutions in AWS/Azure. Continuous delivery & product ownership for the complete lifecycle of a service/application – “Think product first”.
  • Experience of moving on-premise workloads into AWS – using cloud native principles, “off shelf services”
  • Contribute to the maturity, performance and growth of the team
  • Strong understanding of data principals and elements that contribute to an effective data strategy
  • Strong product & people management skills.
  • Willingness to get in to the detail and drive activities forward.
  • Ability to analyse issues and produce innovative solutions.
  • Good networking and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Good organisation and coordination skills.
  • Good Microsoft office skills – Powerpoint, Project, Excel, Word.
  • Analytical and numerate.
  • Flexible, mobile and willing to travel (if required)
