1. Context
Under the NATO Defense College’s Academic Policy and Planning Division (APPD), the Curriculum Planning Branch (CPB) is responsible for the development of curricula for all courses, for the preparation of course reading material and the management of lecturers and their presentations. Furthermore, the CPB is responsible for the organization and management of study periods, courses and exercises and for the implementation of academic policies and programs.
CPB consists of six Faculty Advisors, of which one serves as the Branch Head, and three assistants. They are mainly responsible for organization and management of their allocated study periods, exercises and field studies within the Senior Course and the NATO Regional Cooperation Course and for the planning or implementation of academic policies and programs.
2. Job Description
The selected intern will report to the Branch Head.
Working with one or more of the Faculty Advisors, the selected intern will assist in one or more of the following tasks:
- In priority, the design, preparation and execution of high-level academic engagements like the Senior Executive Seminar (SES), the General and Flag Officers Course (GFOAC), the Senior Executive Regional Course (SERC) and the Gulf Week.
- The further development of exercise-type activities (MSX, NMDX, STC).
Related activities may include
- Design, preparation and execution of study periods and / or short courses or some other academic activities linked to the entire academic curriculum.
- Development of instructional guides and other course material, including readings and lecturers’ biographies.
- Arrangements for lecturers.
- Post lecture evaluations and study period reviews.
- Development, planning and implementation of new short courses or new academic activities.
In a broader context, the selected intern might be required to assist in the development, planning and execution of NDC-sponsored activities (symposia, workshops, exercises, meetings, etc.).
A very good level of English language proficiency is required whilst the knowledge of French and/or Italian would be beneficial but not essential.
The candidate is required to be enrolled in university degree programme or hold a university degree (preferably in Political Science, International Relations, International Affairs, International Public Policy or related subjects).
NATO Defense College is only able to offer internship to people who are at least 21 and under the age of 30 and citizens of a NATO member country.
