About the role

GIS exists to prevent, detect, investigate & report insurance fraud, in accordance with the mandate received from the Company’s Management.

GIS shares the expertise with the business stakeholders to effectively manage the risk of fraud against AIG, to improve controls and to protect its customers.

The role will deal with the management of suspicious insurance related activities, this including both suspicious insurance claims or suspicious activities in the underwriting phase, covering all line of business and involving claimants, agents, brokers, attorneys, medical providers, etc

The responsibilities for this role include:

• Investigating suspicious insurance claims or suspicious insurance related activities,
• Obtaining and preserving physical and documentary evidence to support investigations; gathering facts on issues in question through open-ended interviewing and statement taking of witnesses, employers, claimants
• Preparing objective and short written reports of investigations when necessary,
• Coordinating necessary investigative techniques and resources, such as field work through internal or external field resources as applicable, and ensuring quality is accurate, timely and appropriate on all cases,
• Supporting the claims organization for the pursuit of appropriate remedies through the justice system, being this civil or criminal; testifying and presenting evidence at administrative and criminal court proceedings as required,
• Working with claims dep. in order to improve fraud detection, the handling and the accurate reporting of suspicious claims; identifying, create and complete fraud training for various lines of business supported by AIG,
• Working with underwriting on fraud prevention – as required – by reviewing loss trends, fraud schemes, etc. that potentially impact loss ratio,
• Establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with insureds, claimants, witnesses, attorneys, employees,
• Completing targeted claims reviews for all lines of business within AIG,
• Ensuring compliance with all country laws and regulations regarding investigations, reporting, and data privacy requirements,
• Assisting in managing assignment workflow and caseload balancing within the Team,
• Act as a point of contact for fraud-related Request for information from Public Authorities
• Perform any other anti-fraud related activity as required or needed, supporting other Countries as requested

What we’re looking for:

• Understanding of insurance claims processes.
• Experience in insurance or fraud investigations.
• Knowledge of the insurance market
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong technical skills for utilization of case management systems and database searches.
• Ability to drive anti-fraud program initiatives for claims operations.
• Ability to perform fraud training for the claims and underwriting professionals
• Fluency in Italian and English is essential; knowledge of Greek language will be a plus.
