We’re a pretty young company (5 years young), and we’ve recently evolved from start-up to scale-up phase. We are active in 10 European countries, and offer a dynamic and innovative work environment where you can truly make an impact. Our team is a selected blend of around 70 beer and eCommerce specialists, with around 20 in the product & technology organization.

We are looking for a detail-oriented and pragmatic Engineering Manager with 5+ years of work-experience, particularly within data and DevOps.. As a Engineering Manager you expand our webshop with cutting edge features by working together with analysts, product managers, data engineers, and DevOps engineers. Your challenge will be to make sure we can utilize our large-scale data even more effectively to support business decisions and improve our products. Are you up for this challenge?

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL FOCUS ON

Your key responsibilities

  • Hands-on engineering leadership for your team, both coding and coaching, and looking out strategically in partnership with Product Management to define and deliver value on our eCommerce platform.
  • Defining and documenting processes of product engineering teams in our product engineering handbook.
  • Keep holistic overview of cross-systems, risks, tech debt, and architecture and provides guidance to help deliver the best outcomes.
  • Coaching a team of engineers through 1:1s and other means to bring out the best in everyone, thinking about capacity and growth for the future.
  • Foster technical decision making on the team, but make final decisions when necessary.
  • Driving sustainable engineering: We expect every team member to be aligned with best practices so establishing and coaching these is an important part of your role.
  • Scalability & Performance: We always push ourselves to deliver our webshop with better and better performance; helping your teams navigate this is another key responsibility.

THE THINGS YOU BRING TO BEERWULF AS AN ENGINEERING MANAGER

But above all, you have a healthy amount of beer-love and are excited to work for the online beer retailer that is conquering Europe!

  • 2+ years experience leading an engineering team and coaching engineers.
  • Minimum of 5-years of experience as a Senior Data Engineer with production-grade engineering expertise in Python and SQL.
  • Experience with building scalable data pipelines in distributed environments using Azure Data Stack like ADF and Azure Synapse and Data lake Storage and surrounding technologies such as Databricks and Spark/PySpark and Kafka and SQL Server.
  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a discipline such as Information Technology.
  • Knowledgeable about data modeling, data access, and data storage techniques.
  • Good understanding of basic analytics and machine learning concepts
    • The ability to work on other cross-functional projects in which you are able to show your strong organizational and multitasking skills. You can communicate technical realities, possibilities and limitations very clearly to colleagues from every background.
    • Fluency in English and a master in the art of coding.
    • Please note you must be eligible to work in the EU!

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 and the limitations of moving between countries, you must be based in The Netherlands for this job.
