Paralegal

In this role, you have the opportunity to be part of the Philips Legal team and work for several of the Legal sub-teams. Those Legal sub-teams provide direct advice to the Philips businesses, organizations and functions. Philips’ Legal team spans a global network of around 250 professionals operating as one integrated, internal law firm for Philips’ businesses worldwide advising on all legal matters relevant to Philips. Within the central Legal Operations team, we are looking for someone that can assist multiple Legal Counsels as a Paralegal and help them work more effectively. You will be based in Eindhoven (The Netherlands) or Zaventem (Belgium).

You are responsible for

• Advising, reviewing, drafting & negotiating of standardized contract types, related documents and questions relating to Philips in and outside the Benelux based on standardized guidelines/instructions issued by the Legal Counsel, and independently identify and decide on escalation to the responsible Legal Counsel of the unit concerned where needed;

• Coordination with internal subject matter experts on specific legal domains, availability of specialty content, policies, reference documents, relevant for legal training as well as for drafting of template legal documents;

• Interacting with colleagues from the business on a regular basis answering their day to day questions on several specialty areas (e.g. non-disclosure agreements, compliance, certain types of contracts);

• Presentations to colleagues in connection with new legal developments, new IT tools and new policies;

• Keeping yourself informed and up-to-date in certain areas of legal expertise;

• Drafting legal guidelines, quick reference cards and instructions for the business on selected legal topics, as requested by and in cooperation with the Legal Counsel;

• Maintenance and improvement of template legal documents and ancillary reference documents including contract structure, definitions, reference and schedule consistency;

• Maintenance of Legal SharePoint content and Legal toolkits containing template agreements and guidance documents;

• Support and where appropriate manage Legal processes and propose process improvements.

You are part of

The Legal Operations team is part of the global Philips Legal team and provides support with and guidance on optimizing the Legal teams’ business partner and guardian role by improving the way legal services are delivered. You will work closely together with several Legal Counsel and other Paralegals but also directly with business stakeholders.

To succeed in this role, you have the following skills and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in law or equivalent;

• 3 years or more of relevant work experience in the legal domain is preferred;

• Excellent knowledge of Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Teams);

• Strong communications skills and able to maintain good relations with various stakeholders;

• Fluent in English (oral and written), other language skills are most welcome.
