UI/UX Designer

Nyoko is a start-up based on the on-demand marketplace model based in Doha, Qatar. We have designed our product to help professional photographers interact with clients in the most effective way possible. Our aim is to revolutionise the old photographer-booking model and as a result make hiring a professional photographer a convenient and affordable process.

This is an exciting opportunity for us as we look to extend our initial team members with an aim to gather an all-star team, filled with passionate and hard-working individuals. We are looking for individuals that are willing to take risks, are driven to make a difference, and are willing to collaborate with our team to bring about a remarkable product.

We are looking for our very first UI/UX designer. The ideal candidate for this listing is a highly resourceful and innovative designer with extensive knowledge in the layout, aesthetics and usability aspect of WebApps on both the desktop and mobile ends. This field also requires a high degree of empathy as well as creativity and strong communication skills. The individual must also possess a strong knowledge of the design process from ideation to implementation.

Responsibilities & Requirements

• Creating wireframes using a range of tools (Adobe XD, Figma, proto.io, or equivalent) in order to be able to express abstract visions into potentially actionable skeletons
• Communicating with stakeholders – from carrying user research to being able to understand and ideate visions effectively
• Design & empathetical thinking from creating user personas to user requirements as well as creating and testing assumptions
• Working cross-functionally to convert business needs into technical specifications
• To constantly be researching new trends within both the UI and UX industries and presenting them accordingly 
• Extracting insights and identifying pain-points by using analytical tools (google analytics, or equivalent)
• Strong English grammar and communication skills to be able to communicate confidently and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
• Aesthetic taste in design while keeping in mind usability – able to create designs that look aesthetically pleasing and simultaneously intuitive, making the app an overall joy to use
• Ability to work independently as well as with the team – ability to self-motivate and to self-manage tasks that may at times be abstract while also being able to function as part of the team as and when required
• A constant learner committed to life-long learning and not afraid to learn new skills and adapt as and when required by the start-up
• Attention to detail – ability to focus on the small things that make a big difference.

Qualifications

• A BSc in an Arts or a Design-related degree
• A portfolio of designs and wireframes worked on as part of projects
• A demonstration of strong English skills (IELTS or equivalent)
• A background understanding of the Agile framework including Kanban and Scrum
• No prior work-experience is required.

Note: while knowledge in front-end languages is preferred, we are more actively focused on recruiting a Smart Creative that is more of a generalist than a specialist and can relish the challenge of learning and excelling in new endeavours in a rapidly evolving environment.
