Commercial / Corporate Account Executive (circa £400K Inherited Portfolio)

One of the North East’s most respected broking houses seeks a ‘safe pair of hands’ to inherit a substantial and long-standing portfolio of middle-market and corporate risks, generating circa 400K in commission and fee income. This well-regarded firm has a fine reputation in the North East business community and is respected for the technical ability of its staff, and their unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional client service. Here, you will be allocated a portfolio of clients that has a slight bias towards white-collar and professional risks, as well as some manufacturing and engineering clients. Clients typically generate 5K-10K in revenue each, although there are several larger clients paying fees closer to 40K. Aided with the support of a dedicated team of Commercial Account Handlers and Brokers, you will ensure that your clients enjoy a first-class level of service. You will be responsible for leading the client service strategy, preparing renewals and ensuring that the insurance programmes reflect clients’ appetites for carrying risk themselves. Where gaps in cover do exist, you will suggest ways to mitigate these. As one would expect, you will be responsible for negotiating with insurers to obtain the most comprehensive at competitive premiums. The focus here is very much on the management of existing business, and you will not be targeted on developing new business. That said, whilst there is no pressure to do so – if you were to generate any sales (or some of your current portfolio transfers post-covenant), you will receive a 25% bonus of any commission and fee income growth – this bonus is uncapped and there is no minimum threshold to hit. It is essential that you are an experienced Account Executive with a demonstrable history of managing portfolios of middle-market or corporate risks. You must have a genuine passion for client service, and pride yourself on developing an unrivalled knowledge of your accounts, whilst creating long-lasting, meaningful relationships with key personnel within your portfolio. You must also be au fait with all common commercial lines, including Financial Lines covers, given the bias towards Professions within this account. Just as importantly, you’ll have excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce a variety of high-quality reports. In return, you will receive a generous basic salary (negotiable but anticipated to be to circa 75K), a 10% company bonus (in addition to the above mentioned new business commission), generous car allowance, and one of the highest pension contributions that we have seen in some time.
