Healthy Places Officer – Merton Council

Grade/Salary: ME13 £39,867 – £42,855 per annum

Advert Text

Merton’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy identifies the creation of healthy places as a key method to improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities. The main purpose of this post is to work with different council departments and other organisations to create and manage initiatives that will make the healthy choice easy and to reduce health inequalities in Merton, through tackling the wider determinants of health.

The London Borough of Merton has adopted “Health in All Policies” (HIAP) as its overall approach to create healthy places. HIAP is an approach to public policies across sectors that systematically takes into account the health implications of decisions, seeks synergies, and avoids harmful health impacts. A key part of this approach is to use Health Impact Assessment (HIA) to inform specific investment decisions.

Merton’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy (HWS) has recently been refreshed and a new strategy for 2019-2024 will be approved by the Health and Wellbeing Board. The post holder will support the delivery of the HWS, including further refinement of outcomes, development of the accountability framework, and selection of the annual rolling programme of priorities for action.
