Your Career Opportunity Instructional Designer, Online Learning Based in UK working from home with occasional UK travel required 12 months fixed-term contract Full-time working 37.5 hours per week Salary 35-40K depending on experience Reporting to Senior or Lead Instructional Designer This is a truly exciting opportunity to join our innovative Pearson Online Learning Services (POLS) family! Working in partnership with universities across the UK, our division provides online learning services, including research, course content and development, marketing, student recruitment, training, and student progression and support. Our team is currently going through a period of unprecedented growth due to the popularity and demand for online learning courses. The Instructional Designer will be responsible for scripting content into template instructional design storyboards for a number of online and blended course development projects. You will work closely with the Lead and Senior Instructional Designers who will initiate the Storyboard template for each project and you will be responsible for ensuring that content received from institutional academics and SMEs is mapped and scripted into the storyboard and that the content is reviewed for accuracy and consistency, before being handed over to the QA & Content Editing and Digital Production teams for copy editing and subsequently production. In this exciting position you’ll ensure on-time delivery of content to the Lead and Senior Instructional Designers per the project schedule. You may also be required to log all assets. You will also carry out online reviews during the production phase to ensure that the storyboards have been accurately translated into the live environment. Your Key Responsibilities Using raw content provided by an academic or SME, prepare, transform and script content into storyboards and asset templates ensuring it meets the latest accessibility, DE&I and Pearson editorial standards. Review scripted content for consistency, accuracy and quality both in the storyboard and in the learning environment. Incorporate feedback from Lead and Senior Instructional Designers, academics and/or SMEs to ensure that we deliver the best quality courses. Ensure that the content meets the desired learning objectives for the course and that it is aligned with sound pedagogical best practices. Transform content from its raw format into a range of set learning assets, using third party authoring tool templates. Work to a schedule to manage own time to ensure all content is scripted within designated time. Effective communication of project status to Lead and Senior Instructional Designer as appropriate. Contribute to ad-hoc projects as they arise within the department. Our Successful Candidate We welcome applicants with experience in an instructional design role, preferably in a Higher Education setting. You’ll demonstrate experience in creating, writing and developing scripts and content for adult learners, as part of eLearning content development. It would be an advantage to have working experience with Articulate Rise, Evolve (Adapt), and other authoring tools, and familiarity with VLEs (Canvas, Blackboard Ultra and Moodle).
