Overview:

The Highlands is seeking a new Landscape Assistant to join our team. If working outdoors and making the resort beautiful while getting paid for it sounds like a good way to spend your day, look no further! You will be responsible for taking care of the flowerbeds throughout the resort. This is a full-time or part-time position with flexible scheduling, giving you plenty of time to take advantage of the various perks that come with working for an amazing resort! Responsibilities:

The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this classification and are not all-inclusive of the specific position.

• Care for established flowerbeds.
• Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
• Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, and shrubs, and apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools.
• Decorate gardens with stones and plants.
• Gather and remove litter.
• Plan and cultivate gardens.
• Prune and trim trees, shrubs, and hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws.
• Rake, mulch, and compost leaves.
• Trim and pick flowers, and clean flower beds.
• Water trees and plants using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans.
• Operate powered equipment such as tractors, twin-axle vehicles, chain-saws, electric clippers, and pruning saws.
• Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge and brush trimmers, and axes.
• Spring clean up of beds to prepare for planting
• Raking, digging, weeding trimming of flowers and foliage
• Daily water all flowers and pots
• Weed, dead head and maintain flowers pots and plantings
• Operate sprinkler systems, hoses and watering cans
• Use hand held tools such as, shovels, rakes, pruners, small hand saws
• Ability to work in variable outdoor weather conditions including rain, cold, and heat
• Knowledge of annual and perennial plants a plus, but not mandatory

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of annual and perennial plants is a plus, but not mandatory.
• Able to work on occasional weekends
• A great attitude and willingness to work as a team as well as work independently is required
• Able to work outside in variable weather conditions
