Position Summary
:

The RNA Rewriting group is seeking a Scientist to support the molecular characterization of novel gene writers to advance candidate selection efforts. We are looking for a highly independent, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual to work on various aspects of the gene writers’ characterization. This individual will join a dynamic, collaborative and rapidly growing team.


Key Responsibilities
:

  • Develop and lead new projects, experiments, scientific processes to support characterization of novel rewriters.
  • Actively undertake technology development efforts in the gene editing space.
  • Keep up with advances in genomics and genome engineering and strategize on prioritizing and onboarding cutting-edge technologies to advance R&D efforts.

Basic Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of and experience in carrying out on and off-target characterization in the CRISPR-Cas9 context.
  • Expertise in characterizing DNA and RNA binding proteins, including use of ChIP/RIP-Seq.
  • Experience in building out NGS pipelines: Illumina based DNA and RNA library construction, QC using TapeStation and fragment analyzer, running a MiSeq/ NextSeq.
  • Extensive experience in mammalian cell culture of primary and cancer cell lines (U2OS, HEK293, etc.).
  • Experience in independently developing and leading projects.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary environment and in an agile and highly collaborative fashion.
  • Strong attention to detail with respect to executing experiments and record-keeping and experience with electronic lab notebook maintenance.

Preferred Experience (not required):

  • Experience with mouse/ human primary hepatocytes, iPSCs, 3D cell culture
  • Experience with long read sequencing technologies
  • Experience with liquid handling and automated NGS pipelines

Education and relevant work experience:

  • Ph.D. in biological sciences. Title commensurate with experience.
