Did you know Southampton has it’s own 115 bedded children’s hospital offering paediatric services for Children in the Wessex Region and the channel islands.
As part of Southampton Children’s Hospital, G4SUN is a fast paced 17-bed Surgical, Urological and Nephrological unit. We care for children from birth to 18 years old. Our service covers referrals from outlying hospitals across the South of England, including the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands. Children can stay with us for as little as a day. Some require longer term care, staying with us for a week or so, or occasionally months. G4SUN looks after children undergoing major and minor general or urological surgery, either as a planned admission or as an emergency. We also look after children with renal conditions, both acute and chronic. These children may require peritoneal dialysis on the ward, and we also have a haemodialysis unit. Our haemodialysis unit cares for outpatients who require regular dialysis, with patients attending sessions on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Occasionally this service is used by inpatients too
We are looking for an experienced, motivated, enthusiastic Paediatric trained Band 5 nurse to join our dynamic team.

Your Responsibilities
What you’ll do
Provide a high standard of specialised care to all our patients
Communicate effectively with our patients and carers, ensuring barriers are reviewed and solutions are implemented and shared across the multidisciplinary teams
Ensure accurate records of observations, treatment and family/patient care is recorded in adherence to NMC and Trust standards
What we’re looking for
Along with the relevant qualifications, we are looking for you to demonstrate:
Knowledge of Nursing procedures and practices
Evidence of on-going personal development
Completion of a Medicines Management Module as part of your foundation Degree
Evidence of working effectively in a team
Evidence of patient assessment skills
Paediatric registered RN
