What will you do?

The purpose of this role is to provide quotations in respect of new clients and existing clients to ensure profitability and sustainability by taking the risk profile, experience and other relevant information into account while building and maintaining relationships with colleagues, clients and other stakeholders through expertise, service and support. The purpose of the role is also to be responsible for the growth, development and the effective management of team members on a daily basis. This is a high-pressure environment and candidates need to be able to produce high quality work while ensuring that tight deadlines are met.
Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain, assess and analyse all relevant information needed to provide a new business quotation and/or amendment quotation.
  • Take the client’s risk profile, and all other relevant information into account to calculate rates and medical free cover limits in such a way to still target a specified profit margin and expense charge.
  • Liaise with Insurers for quotation comparisons and guidance/opinions on out of the norm requests/terms and conditions.
  • Assessing and calculating the risk and operational expenses for the benefits requested, utilising the pricing tool.
  • Ensure that legislative requirements are met to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare quality new business quotation documents and/or amendment documents to be issued to clients.
  • Accurate recording of data for business intelligence and reporting.
  • Consider wider topics of risk management such as occupational and industry risks and trends.
  • Constant upskilling in our products as that will impact on the decisions you make when preparing quotations.
  • Constantly be on the lookout to improve/optimize internal processes.
  • Ensure all work is accurate and delivered on a professional level.
  • Ensure processes are adhered to and records are updated.
  • Ensure all quotations are finalized within the agreed turnaround times and allocated timeframes.
  • Ensure that all authorization requirements are met.
  • Ensure that any irregularities are brought to the attention of the Manager.
  • Contribute towards reducing departmental operating costs.
  • Play a meaning full role in the development of the quote system, ensuring that it’s aligned with insurer’s/product specifications and costs.
  • Testing of the quote system as when required which may be after hours.
  • Effective management of the day to day workflow of team members.
  • Support special projects (revisions, quote projects) and rotate duties to team members as allocated by the manager.
  • Effective supervision of team members in general.
  • Support team with difficult queries and complex quotation calculations.
  • Assist team members in their training and development needs.
  • Mentoring and coaching team members. to ensure constant upskilling and investing in the team’s growth and development.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Create a positive work environment and ensure that all team members perform in accordance with the company’s core competency expectations.
  • Provide in-put to team members’ Performance reports and conduct the formal Performance discussions of junior team members bi-annually.
  • Bi-weekly check-ins with team members to provide general support and to determine/prevent problems/issues in terms of team member’s wellbeing, work ethic and work quality
  • Keep up to date with changes in the business, department, industry and legislature.

Knowledge and Skills

  • A Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in an Employee Business environment with experience in a Group Risk/Retirement fund pricing environment.
  • Knowledge of the pension funds act.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, OneDrive for Business, MS SharePoint and MS Teams).
  • Excellent analytical thinking with regards to identifying, analysing and solving problems.

Qualification and Experience

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics (minimum “C” symbol in pure Maths – not Maths literacy)
  • Post matric qualification e.g. IRF will be advantageous.
