Job description:

The purpose of this underwriting position is to conduct reviews and evaluate adherence in respect of Straight through processing transactions managed via Western outsourced platform, third party outsourced platform and Binders. Management of outsourced binder policy schedule, product and compliance alignment to Western standards, requirements. Data quality management in respect of outsourced and binder business on third party platforms. The ideal candidate for the role will be a highly analytical, detail orientated and resilient person with extensive Commercial lines underwriting experience. The person will have a keen eye for detail and a quality orientated mindset.

The person must have been exposed evaluation of transitions against rules sets, compiling an findings report.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct monthly reviews on straight through processing activities for outsourced brokers:
  • Compiling a finding report per broker indicating adherence to the Straight through processing rule set.
  • Assist manager with broker discussions on the review findings and remedial approach
  • Provide support to the users to ensure adherence to the rule set
  • Conduct reviews, and evaluate adherence of outsourced and binder policy product setup and schedule alignment to Western standards and requirements
  • Drive projects to ensure adherence and alignment on products and policy schedules
  • Onboard and set up of product and policy schedule alignment with third party provider platforms in respect of any newly acquired outsourced and/or binder partners
  • Manage the process between outsourced, binders, their approved platform vendors and Western National
  • Review, and manage a structured and documented process in respect of Outsourced and Binder business data quality
  • Management and engagement with Third Part System provides
  • Involvement in monthly Binder and Outsourced meetings and reporting
  • Review of overall binder & outsourced business compliance in line with regulations and legislation

Skill sets required:

  • Matric
  • NQF Level 4 – Full qualification (short-term insurance) as set by regulation
  • Regulatory Examination Level1 successfully completed
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience handling Commercial lines
  • DOFA confirmation from FSB
  • Portfolio management experience will be an advantage
