Assistant Professor Faculty Position

In a pioneering international initiative, Cornell University and Weill Cornell Medical College established Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar (WCM-Q) in 2001 through a unique partnership with the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development.

WCM-Q is engaged in a broad initiative to implement personalized medicine approaches to diseases that are of importance for Qatar and the region. We are seeking an innovative group leader who will develop and deploy computational and/or machine learning methods to advance personalized medicine approaches and drive collaborative efforts in Qatar. The successful candidate will develop new programs and collaborations based in part on existing multi-omic, clinical, and epidemiological projects from established groups at WCM-Q, at the main campus in New York, and local collaborators in Qatar. Applicants with a vision to combine multimodal datasets spanning genomics, metabolomics, imaging, and medical records using cutting-edge machine learning, including deep learning approaches are of particular interest. Prior experience working with international consortia (e.g., DREAM challenges, ICGC, TCGA, etc.) is desirable. The incumbent will also be encouraged to collaborate with faculty and other entities within WCM-Q that may benefit from AI type approaches and develop strong ties and collaborations with the other Cornell campuses and entities, such as the Englander Institute for Precision Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City.
